I would still check the ball joints out, mine were found to gone at 17K and most likely went earlier. Getting them checked out tomorrow along with the U joints when its in for service. Busy compiling a list as long as rolls of wall paper atm, so I'm going to be popular
You seemed to have educated youself extremely well on all the parts required, so I'll be asking for recommendations on whats required next year

Yeh, it does take a long time to do, and I miss driving the Jeep, its been out of action for a few weeks now...
Haha I am the same with my dealer, I definatley know more about the jeep then they do
I have decided from now on I am going to do all the servicing/fixes myself I think. The last recall they did, trimming the fender liner, they did a terrible job on and to be honest I can save a lot of money doing everything myself.
I am going to try and never sell any car/jeep that I get in life, by the end I should have a nice collection to look after
I am happy to help. I have spent about 3 years reading forums, but still learning.

Oh and just checked, the ball joint were replaced at 19500 not 25000, I will check them before warranty runs out in october and try and get a new set.

Oh, and just ordered an LOD mid-width to accommodate my new winch.
Cool, I am down in devon for the summer, will be trying to join the fife off road club (scottish mud club) when I return in Sept.

Sweet! post up some pics. What winch did you go for?

Thats what I like about the Wrangler... timeless design.
10 to 15 years down the road still looking good.
It will be nice to be 2" to 3" higher than the Range Rovers when you pull along side

I've had company cars for many years so never got in to fixing them.. just broke them .... constantly
Last car I had got serviced by a local guy I know... very resonable.
But this is my new toy so would like to do stuff myself when ever possible, but need to start buying some tools.
Like that model Corvette you've got there... another timeless design.

Well back to my list.

Default Few problems...

Well, seems that the hardware for the front trackbar is causing some problems, waiting on AEV to advise, pretty much one of the bolts is too short and some of the nuts are the wrong size

Front ARB with AEV Bracket underneath (used a lubelocker between the cover and bracket and RTV gasket maker between bracket and diff

Front rotors were the wrong stud pattern, new ones coming on Tues.

U-joints in (one side at least, managed to break one of the needle bearings in the other so a new one arriving tomorrow)

Took the needle gun to them

old vs new

Axle tube seals dont work with 27 spline JK Dana 30 stock shafts (fine with Dana 44)...sending them back

Lightforce Lights arrived, wiring is all installed ready for when the bumper goes on

New wipac headlight to replace the LED wipacs as the leds were shot

Driver side front all done

Neat place for the winch control

I'm just as impressed with the rust proofing you've done.... looks better than new.
Its good to see where those brackets go on the front and ARB covers just look suberb.... good pics as usual well appriciated.
Will be looking forward to your road testing reports when its all done.
Strange about those bolts being wrong. You would have thought they'd shipped quite a number of RHD kits by now. (Fustrating )
Will be interesting what they say.
Those axel seals looked practical. Have they not just sent you the wrongs ones, as they are advertised for dana 30's

Got my Ujoints checked on my service, apparently, apart from a little rust, which they cleaned off, OK. ..... hopefully.
Got them to checkout door hinges... some corrosion and little to no paint behind or around bracket edges where they meet the door, (just spayed over the top). Pictures sent off to Fiat /Chrysler along with pics of rusty seat floor bolts on nearside. Just under one year left on warranty.

Yeh cant wait till its back on the road, will be interesting to see if it rides any good....hope so!

It is very annoying about the bolts as it would all be done by now if everything worked, found a few engineering companies which I will phone and see if they can help out. Thing is they need to be high carbon (tensile) bolts as opposed to standard ones.

The seals in the link are superior brand ones, they work fine with JK's (I believe, not sure though). The alloy usa ones say they work with dana 30, which they do, apart from the JK dana 30 as the halfshafts have bigger flanges at the end.

That good then. Yeh I had the dealer take all my hinges off (inc hood) and got new ones, painted behind the hinges, painted the new ones separately then installed them on, all under warranty. It definatly looks better and stops the rust. They had the jeep for about 2 weeks in total, but at least they did a proper job which should have been done from factory.

I can pretty much say my warranty has long gone after the mods as they were faffing about the after-market headunit and sound system last time

Default Any word back from AEV...

AEV got back to you yet about the issues with seemingly incorrect bolts etc ?
Also how do the U-Joints fit. Just hammer them in ?

AEV Dave (owner of AEV) said he would look into it, that was on Friday, so I guess he doesn't like working weekends....
I am trying to solve the problem (temporarily) by sourcing new bolts locally as I am not waiting for a delivery from the US. I will be expecting them to solve the problem in the near future. I received a PM from a guy in the Cayman Islands who had the kit installed a few days before me and he said his mechanic had to source a longer bolts aswell.

I wouldn't recommend a hammer with the new ones as I found out the hard way...
To get the old ones out just remove the c clips (if you have new ones sitting infront of you its a lot easier to see how they go in/come out). Then smash the old ones out with a hammer as it doesn't really matter if you break them. Use lots of wd40 if its rusty.

The new ones you ideally need a big vice or press and if everything is lined up right they should go in pretty easy, if not then you are most likely damaging something. I mistakenly took a hammer to one which was not going in and smashed some of the needle bearings, hence a new u joint required Live and learn....

So all you really need is a solid bench vice, hammer and screwdriver. Simple.

I got offered a new Warn M8000 for £400 so I grabbed it. Will hopefully get it all installed over the next couple of weeks. Yes, will post up some pics when it's done!

Still waiting on a response from Dave. I ordered some bolts which should be here hopefully in the next few days, not sure if they will work or not.

Got cracking on the front bumper install and electrics, will put the skid-plate on when the suspension is done.

Locking Nuts

Will order a new american sized front plate but left the Jeep log book in Edinburgh so that will have to wait until September.

Wireless control pack

Anyone want some stock Sahara tyres and wheels I might be tempted to free up some room at the right price. they got 27000 on them.
