sure i plan on bringing my swr/power/modulation meter to the park. i have very good experience with radios. in fact the cobra 29 in my jk i tweeked and played with i key at 2 watts and have a swing to 30 watts. that is MODULATION!

seriously though, thanks. i have been reading that tuning the antenna is important. i dont plan on using the CB for other than on the trail, but i dont want to damage anything!
and damn.... i love this forum, i really like how people step up to help others out. this place is GREAT

I need the same thing. If I go get one can a newby figure it out or is this something that an experienced installer/enthusiast should do?

should be done by someone who knows what they are doing. many factors in checking swrs. need to be in a open area at least 50 yards from people, cars, trees, anything. the doors need to be shut and everyone testing needs to be inside the vehicle. i d say about 75% of the time you can get away with just adjusting the antenna, but i see alot the antenna needs to have a ground strap added to the mount and the radio needs to hard wired and not just plugged into the cigarette lighter.
