Default Virginia newbie!

Just moved to Quantico, VA from San Francisco, CA- any local 4wheelin trips planned besides President's Day Weekend? (will be in Dallas) I'd love to meet the VA jeeper community and test out these new 35's

My SE Virginia Friends:

What is the deal with the OBX?!?!? Is it true? Are they really requiring a ~10 minute video plus permit/fee to ride on the beach?

I've been up there about 6 times in the past 12 months and never needed any of that. HUNDREDS of people frequent OBX every year so I doubt they'd do something like that. It's a huge tourist attraction and the town of duck depends on it... I'm gonna say no, but hey, would not be the first time I was wrong....

Welcome to VA or welcome back. Are you in the Corps or just moved this way? I know of a couple of spots around here where me and some buddys get the jeeps a little dirty. A combination of trails and mud, it will give you a chance to try out those 35s, good looking jeep by the way. Mine will be in the shop on the 22nd for some repairs, but if my friends not TDY we can head out some time, the trails are only a few minutes south of here. Send me a PM and let me know if you want to check them out.

Derrick

Ya, I read a story in the pilot I think. Maybe it isn't true, I don't know yet. Haven't gone down there yet.

DARN!!!! New rules start tomorrow.

The Final Off Road Ruling has just been announced (Jan 23, 2012) and is in the process of being implemented ... see January UPDATE from NPS It becomes effective February 15, 2012. New permits and fees are required for ORV usage along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Yep it is the sad truth my friends... starting the 15th of Feb, OBX will be requiring $125 per year ORV pass. (I think it is $50 for a 7 day pass, but what is the point of that) You have to bring your registration and drivers license to a certain place as well as watch a 10 minute video.

I know it is being protested by many groups, but I am pretty sure it goes into effect tomorrow
