Great pics Mike, looks like it was a great experience. I'm about 15 minutes from Vernon, I know those hills pretty well (going up while carrying stuff must have been something). Where's the hike?

I can remember three instances of uphill with something extra... The sandbag carry, dragging the stone tethered to a chain and the uphill obstacle course with the rubber band around my ankles. Other than these and the quarter mile of granite rubble I climbed, the rest was 'just uphill'

We're hiking the Ringwood-Ramapo Loop.

Ringwood-Ramapo/Hoeferlin /Pierson Ridge Trails Loop from Skylands Manor | New York-New Jersey Trail Conference

We did the Bearfort Ridge trail in Abram Hewitt state forest a few weeks ago.. saw copperheads and black bear on that hike..

We get a few black bears a year on our block, that's always good for a little excitement...

We haven't been to that trail, looks like a good one. Enjoy!

First time on that trail as well..

No bears around me, here on LI, so it's an adventure when we see them. Tons of trees with the bark pealed off, so we knew they were around.

The Copperhead was a surprise. I sat down to eat lunch by a small pond and BAM! It was about six feet away from me, curled up.

Came home with three ticks as well.

Sometimes I wish we had bears instead of ticks....annoying

Pulled a few off the dog and had a few crawling on me this year, creeps me out

Last outing I had one on my leg, one on my arm and one latched to my back that I didn't find until the next day. Fortunate that these were not the deer ticks, but yes, it creeps me out too.
