Hey guys, I did my front diff cover last night and one again get mixed feedback on how much oil to use. I have the dana 30 up front and I used an ARB cover.
Brendan said he put in 1 quart and it came back out the breather. I put in a quart and nothing spit out. Furthermore, the forum write-up says in takes 1.35 quarts. I don't want to put too little in.
What do you guys recommend?

****ALSO,
Should my tie-rod flip back and forth VERY easily?

do a search a lot of people cant fit more than one quart in there, but i do have a stock cover. and mine didnt leak out of the breather it started coming back out of the fill hole

the fluid level should line up with the bottom of the axle tube. so just check with arb's fancy dipstick

and yes the tie rod pivots up and down

I think it depends on how long you let the diff drain. It was really cold out when I did my change and my diff continued to drain for at LEAST an hour. That stuff really sticks to the sides and if its cold itll flow out FOREVER.

So I think thats the reason for the varying feedback, some people don't let it all completely drain out.

Oh yea and I saw a lifted white JK on main st smithtown yesterday. It was turning into the street by the Smithtown train station... is it anyone from here??
