I've been told that with the shape of our inner fenders, combined with the side location of the air box intake, water splashes right up the fenders and directly into that air box!

On my Liberty, the air inlet was forward facing, and there was a small "spoiler" if you will, right in front of it. I've PLOWED through water deeper and faster than Joey did and never even got my filter moist.

I'm thinking about adding some sort of "pre-filter" over that inlet. Some guys are cutting up water-resistant yet breathable sport shirts and covering their open element filters. I'm wondering if I can do that over the inlet opening. At least for off-roading. Makes sense, no?

I have more that are even crazier without incident. And I used to plow through every puddle on the street for fun with my kids. After watching Joey's video, NO MORE!

yea I mean it didnt look to bad if you watch it in normal speed
but if you stop it at 5 seconds you can see the passenger side dips hard in that first rut and it gets a nice gulp

Shortly following that at 7 seconds, mostly the end of seven very beginning of 8 you cant see the truck at all...

the first 4 feet of that drops straight down and It was complete black out when we hit the first section mud came up and over the wipers...

I also had no plastic wind screen on the bottom I ripped it off...
not that it does all that much but I am sure it helps some...

Also when I poped the air box there was 3 inches of water in there and the filter was like a sweater that was just put in the pool.... I rang it out and a good highball glass full of water rang lose.

I am Lucky really, that I didn't completely toast the motor...

I know I know slow and steady... but its soo much more fun when it Goes EVERYWHERE!!!

I guess you pay to play... :(
