Casparis Trip -- FEB 21ST
Hey all, I know there are several other trips going on the same day, so chalk another one up. I've been itching to get back out to Casparis for a while, and there should be snow on the ground this time.
For those that haven't been, these are some fun trails, and there's a lot of them. The trails have a good mix of everything, off camber, rock crawling, mudding, etc. And as with any trails, the snow will make it slightly more challenging then normal, but don't worry there aren't as many tall cliffs to slide off like on Flag Pole.
I know its a long haul to get out there, but the trails are a lot of fun and personally, i think are worth it.
The plan is to do the trail out to the caves and/or the short hike to the over look. After that we can do the Cherokee loop (so named for the 70's jeep Cherokee sitting on the side of the trail. And we can even do some exploring of the other trails if there's enough time.
So, going there, i plan on the same 3 meeting spots as before:
1) Waffle House in Urbana on I-270N (lat=39.324646, lon=-77.352108 for GPS) at 7:00am and leaving at 7:30am.
2) Sideling Hill Center (lat=39.71814726, lon=-78.2801870585 for GPS) on I-68W around 8:30 and leave at 9:00.
3)Sheetz in Connellsville (1002 W Crawford Ave, Connellsville, PA 15425) around 11 to 11:30.
So far I have 4 other folks coming along already.
Any one else is more then welcome to come out and play, so reply back if you plan on attending. Hope to see you all there!

Yeah I live in Uniontown, so I'd just catch up with you at Sheetz. Weather has been all over the place for weeks, probably be a lot of mud/muck. Hopefully we're done with all the high temps in the teens days.

heh, a buddy of mine just pointed out the 15 day forcast for Connellsville and its calling for snow almost everyday from now till then.
good thing several of the folks going have winchs and have rubicon's.
the trails are already a lot of fun and can be tricky. a few inchs of snow will make things really interesting.
this should be fun!

I've never wheeled down that that way before. Are the trails OK for a slightly lifted Rubicon? I wheeled at Rausch Creek in October and had no problems on the greens and blues. I'm outta work right now and really can't afford to bust anything is why I'm asking.

no worries. the only thing not stock about my rubi is that i have a 2.5" TFBB on it, that's it. stock everything else.
having the rubicon will help alot because of the lockers. there are a lot of short quick hills on this trail that having atleast a rear locker will make it much easier to just roll right on up rather then having to get a lot of speed and wheel spin.
most of the trails at Casparis can be compared to the blue's at Rausch. there's a few that may rank as a black, but we'll save those for a sunny day in the summer.
and i'm almost in the same boat. i still have a job, but its barely enough to allow me to keep my jeep and i also can't aford to break anything.
so no worries.

just bumping this back up with all the other threads about up coming trail runs...
so far there's a good group going...
from CORE there's 7 folks coming, from here there's 2 and then there's me... so we've got a good sized group.

Extra bump... Looks like we'll be hitting the trail a little before noon. How long do you expect to stay out on the trail?
