I'm in.

My wife said she would consent as long as we stayed at hotel that had an indoor pool and whirlpool, so we are driving over and spending Friday and Saturday nights at the Uniontown Holiday Inn. From the pictures it looks like it has a nice indoor pool for Wendy and an indoor play area for the kids.

Its ok... i think a wedding is more important. i dunno if you want to travel down to VA or not for wheeling, but i go in the GWNF in VA a lot for wheeling. And it might be a few months before i get to go to Casparis again since from Nov-Feb is a heavy hunting season (atleast thats what i've been told). And i'm not about to get bullet holes in my jeep...

and thanks, my old camera ain't too bad. gotta get some new floppy's for it

Alex...I thought I'd give you a heads up that Hawkins Hollow has officially been gated shut even before the meeting for closing it is officially scheduled... refer to this thread for a pic and explanations of the situation http://www.pgh-offroad.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4707
There is also a link to an online petition that you can print and mail-in. This petition will be delivered to the proper authority during the meeting about the closure of the Hollow. Please take the time to do this in addition to the online petition. Legal public wheeling in Southwestern PA is not going to exist anymore if something is not done.

damn... well... hmmm... i am still going to run around Casparis some. Doubt they gated both ends shut tho... We can come in the back way with all the switch backs down the mountain (but that's a big maybe). I really do want to do that river crossing again... i'll still swing buy the trail head... just incase...

btw... now that i think about it... i've never seen a gate at the entrance before...

gate was never there till this week. It was there a few years ago when the campground owner was trying to get the township to close off the Hollow. The campground owner gets all high and mighty and puts the gate there at his own expense to close off the Hollow before the meeting about officially closing the Hollow takes place.

so wait... technically... since it is still a township road... whats to say someone that wants to go down the road can't just open the gate?

this has been brought up and its a really bad idea to do it and it can hurt our chances of convincing the township to keep the road open or even have them make the entire Casparis area illegal.
see post #15 and #16 in this link http://www.pgh-offroad.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4707

Does having this one area closed mean its not worth going? Want to consider another place that same date?
