Both ends of cable take that stupid little white-ish plastic bell retainer. It is absolutly the worst thought out part ever installed on a JK.

I have had both of mine fail-at the same time! Damn plastic POS.

I replaced both ends with metal bushing, stainless washer and a stainless e-clip.

Jeep JK Transfer bushing fix

Qty-2--bushing or tubing 29/64" or 0.45" or 11.4mm outer diameter and 5/16" or 0.315" or 8mm inside diameter BY 11/32" or 0.35" or 8-9mm thick.

Qty-2--Stainless fender washers with 9/32 or 7mm hole and outside diameter needs 3/4" or 19mm-thickness about 0.050" or 1.45mm

Qty-2-- 7/32 E-clips lowes part number 138750. They come as qty two.

The jeep shaft for bushing size is 5/16" or 0.31" or 7.8mm

The jeep shaft for E-clip size is 7/32" or 0.215" or 5 to 5.5mm

Jeep cable ends need to be enlarged from --- to 29/64" or 0.45" or 11.4mm.

I was angry. i pulled out digital calipers and go take measurements. I fixed that damn problem for good. stainless is less prone to dryrot and fall off one year after purchase! Transfer lever felt better than it did when it was new. Not nearly as sloppy.

That is what I will do. Great tip thanks! I don't like having to rely on a chunk of plastic for something like that specially the one on the tcase. Not easy to get at without dropping it for access. Why they wouldn't do something like that in the first place is beyond me!

I went ahead and changed the cable out just in case. Did not want to have this happen to me on the trail.

What did you replace it with, the AA kit?
