red top is more for performance gains (vehicles with higher powered engines) ......yellow is more for running accessories that drain battery power (winch, lights, cb, fridge etc.) both of them are sealed and spiral celled and can be mounted in any position etc.
correct me if i am wrong.

(From Optima's Web Site)
RED TOP = (SLI) Starter - Lighting -Ignition
YELLOW TOP - Deep Cycle Battery
BLUE TOP - DEEP Cycle Marine Battery
So if you are running Winches, Allot of Lights, Invertors,Compressors.. You should go with the Yellow or Blue.. Marine batteries generally give you two more Posts to Hook up too. Thats why I chose marine batteries.. but; I went with the Sears Die-Hard Platinum Marines.. Do you guys have Sears up there???
