Default Raped again - shipping costs

I wanted to order the new Ultimate adventure video. I like watching wheeling videos and this one has the green JK on the Dodge truck body and the red Optima batteries JK with a 4" Rancho lift. I called 4WD and ordered it because online didn't work for some reason. I also ordered a sweater for my wife so she wouldn't get mad at me for ordering stuff. Anyways, the video and sweater came to $61.00 and they charged be 78. Exchange rate, I assumed, and didn't worry too much about it. The next day, my credit card was billed another 48 dollars. I called them and asked and they said those were shipping charges. I was beside myself, totally shocked. A video and sweater? How much can that weigh? What a load of BS. Now it costed me over $120 for a video and a sweater. Then, the next week, the UPS guy came and bent me over for another $38. If we as Canadians just keep bending over and taking it, they'll just keep giving it to us. I don't know about you guys, but I'm friggin' sore.

I feel your pain

you can always add your name to this class action:

http://www.classaction.ca/content/actions/ups.asp

here's a good tip if you still want to deal with UPS

http://www.cbc.ca/consumers/market/f...ees/steps.html

ask the seller to ship USPS, it takes longer but Canada Post only charges $5.

This is normal, and legal.

The secret: request for shipping by USPS. And Canada Post will charge you only 5.00$ + GST of custom fees (not 45.00 + GST like UPS or Fedex)

I recently ordered the Rough Country Dual steering Stabilizer! I contacted them and specifically asked them NOT to ship via UPS and explained the extra charges us canucks have to pay.

1 week later....UPS at my door. $54. and change for something that cost me $100 to buy. WTF!!!!

I know, it's a problem sometimes. You have to be CLEAR that you want USPS only.
For exemple, I don't buy anymore at Quadratec for this reason. They ship only UPS, and if you want USPS, it's more expensive than UPS! This is completly ridicoulus.

Ok. Here's an example of how buying local is not really that much better. I've recently been interested in the Rubicon Express 4.5" long arm kit. Expensive, I know. Online, you can get it for 3200, without shocks. Shocks are about 500 more. So that comes to about 3700, but it is an extensive kit. So, last week I went down to my local Dodge dealer to buy some touch up paint. I mentioned to the parts guy about this lift, because it's also sold through Mopar. In the states, you can get it from Mopar for about 4500. So he runs the part number and this is waht he comes back with. 8450.00, plus taxes is the list price. I get a mechanics discount, so for me it was going to be 6995.00 plus taxes, which comes out to 7450.00. What the hell is the difference? Might as well get it shipped here and maybe it would be cheaper. It's no wonder all these guys in the states have some killer Jeeps, and hot rods, boats and toys. And good for them. They don't get raped on the prices, and when they buy something, they usually get free shipping. For us to build any kind of toy, usually ends up costing double the price, and that is buying local, or from the states. Makes no differnce that I have seen. Still waiting for this super Canadian online store to open so that maybe things will be different.....

That’s outrageous, it wouldn’t cost you that much more to drive your Jeep across the border, have a shop install it and drive it back across the border.
