Default Fender Tire Coverage...Question?

Does anyone know the requirements under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act? I'm looking at purchasing the SmittyBilt XRC Fender Flares as the price is right, I could smash a set up and still be ahead of the game vs Bushwackers. My concern though lies in the fact that they only measure 4-5" wide and therefore my 12.5" wide Baja MTZ's will stick out well beyond the Flares. I don't want topull the trigger and then realize I'm only asking for trouble from the Popo.
Any help, feedback is welcome...

Mudguards

(3) Every motor vehicle and every trailer shall be equipped with mudguards or fenders or other device adequate to reduce effectively the wheel spray or splash of water from the roadway to the rear thereof, unless adequate protection is afforded by the body of the motor vehicle or trailer or by a trailer drawn by the motor vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 66 (3).

No personal experience here, but I'm guessing it all depends on what police officer you have to deal with if you do get pulled over.

Buy the Xenon. The fenders are 1-5/8" larger than OEM
You won't have problem with the police

My 35"x12.5" tires are inside the fenders

Thanks to you both...I think I'll pass on the Smittybilt's. I guess I'm leaning towards the BW's or Xenon's. I wish I could just build up the guts to chop my Stockers.....

Why dont you try the factory fender chop and if it doesnt go over well buy the bw's since you are already planning on it

I haven't totally ruled out chopping my Stockers yet...The one concern I have is if I do go for it, I'm definitely going to reuse the inner pants which will require some cutting. This means if I don't like the chop job and move forward with the BW's I wouldn't be able to use the inner pants as the BW's to my knowledge don't come with them. Gotta have that add protection agaist Road Salt and the like thru the dog days of winter....

Mine were chopped before i went to BW's. I used the front liners with no issues. I did toss the rears though. You really dont need the rears.
