This is somewhere down on my list of to-do's. Don't know if it will be before or after a RIPP.

Yikes, just checked out the Hannibal tents. 2400 smackaroos for the family tent.
I know they are all going to be expensive, but dang, its still a tent at the end of the day. I just picked up a 20'x9' quality tent at Academy for $100. Granted it can't deploy off a roof or trailer, so of course those would be higher, but gimme a break!

i have to agree with the others. i prefer to have the tent on a trailer and use it as a base camp, that way i dont have to pack up every day,

try searching for camping labs. he has a nice selection and a little more affordable. i have not heard any negative comments about his products . i bought mine there,

but i bought the big trailer tent.

after i bought the rubi , i tore the trailer apart and rebuilt things .
now it looks a little better,

Have to agree with many here, after camping on the ground for many years, it's becoming more of a hassle to deal with wet ground, moisture, we'd tents etc. Since my dad and I love to go out hunting/fishing I opted for M101 CDN trailer set up. After a long year of building it, I'm almost done. Love it! We leave it parked as a base camp and hit the trails!

cartopcamper.com. I have the 3 person tent and love it. I never considered getting one until my wife said something about that being nicer than sleeping on the ground. After using it a few times now I can say it's much more comfortable than on the ground. I still do plenty of regular camping with the Scouts, but this is great as well.

To the OP: What exactly are you asking, if anything? If you don't like it, don't buy it. Obviously there is a sizable market out there for them or they wouldn't be in production. If you are trying to solicit opinions, mine is pretty much the same as yours: I like the idea, but agree with you that the price is much to high for the extra comfort and convenience, unless I had to have it for health reasons as some have stated.

Default I have

I have a 16' camper. I will do a spring over and some bigger tires soon. So that I can get it a bit further into the bush. I will never get it up a rock face or through the mud hole but I drag it into a spot and wheel around from there. I also pack two tents with me.
