How to Post Pics on the Bulletin Board
For those of you who are new to bulletin boards and would like to know how to post pics, this is a step by step write-up on how to do it:
1. Using a photo editing program like Photoshop, try to resize your scanned-in or digital photographs so that they are no larger than 800-1200 pix wide at 72 dpi. This is the internet and you don't really need them to be any wider or have a resolution higher than 72 dpi. The only thing a higher resolution will do is make things run slowly for people on dial-up.
2. In order for people to see your photos on-line, you will need to have them hosted on an internet server (home computer is not an internet server). Most ISP's (Internet Service Providers) such as Earthlink, COX, Comcast, etc. typically offer personal web space with your account and you can use it to host your own photos there.
Or, if that’s too much for you to get your head around, another good option is to have your photos hosted at Project-JK.com's FREE on-line photo hosting service MY.Project-JK.com. This a complimentary service that is offered FREE of charge to all our members and, each member is allowed a whopping 25MB of space! All you have to do is sign-up and start uploading your pics today
3. Now, if you are hosting your own photos, you will need to know the exact URL of each image which should look something like this:
But, if you are having your photos hosted on an online photo hosting service, all you need to do is locate the image you want in your album, Right Mouse Click the image and then select Properties as shown below:
4. Highlight and copy the Address (URL) as shown below:
5. On the bulletin board, click on the New Thread or Post Reply button if you are simply responding on a thread. Above the dialogue box where you would type in your message, you should see a small icon that looks like yellow square with mountains and a sun in it. Click on this icon and a new dialogue box will pop-up.
6. Type in the exact URL or paste in the Address (URL) you copied from your photo album earlier into this dialogue box.
7. Click OK and the vBulletin Software will automatically put in the necessary [img] tags for you as shown below:
That should be it. Please let me know if you have any questions.
