Default New Stereo System

I finally did it. I bought the components from Crutchfield and bought the Installcard, but I did not want to wait 4 days to have it installed. This is the first time I have ever installed a car stereo, so I took my time and made sure I did things right. Here are a few of the finished pics:

The biggest hurdle I faced was replacing the driver side speaker. That was a huge pain in the ass. Before I knew it, I had the entire dash unscrewed and pieces hanging everywhere. I was pleasently surprised that I actually put the whole thing back together and did not have any left over parts.

Is the white cord the stereo jack to the XM? If so, you can get an elbow adapter so that it doesn't stick out so far.

Why didn't you get a HU with XM built in?

The HU is satellite radio ready. I just don't want to spend the extra $ right now so I am using the XM unit I already had. Once I can convince the wife to part with more money for my Jeep, I will give her this XM unit and will install the adapter into the HU.

Magister, the white cord is plugged into the "AUX" plug in the back of the HU. I haven't looked for an elbow, but I know they are available.

I cut off the stock harness and spliced. Should I replace the factory wiring? Would that help with the quality of sound?

This was the first time I have ever installed a stereo into a vehicle, so I may have not done somethings the right way.

I followed this as best I could:
