YouTuber Buys Wrangler for $500, Turns it from Zero to Hero

Troublesome fuel injection system and torn interior doesn’t stop ‘Stoney Ridge Farmer’ from reviving 1987 Wrangler back to its original glory.

Who doesn’t want to find a cheap diamond-in-the-rough project car that can be fixed quickly and cheaply? Although, if they were that easy to find, we’d all be driving them. Regardless, they are out there, and this YouTuber was lucky enough to find one.

Josh (aka “Stoney Ridge Farmer”), the host of the Stoney Ridge Farmer YouTube channel, says that he purchased this 1987 Jeep Wrangler, affectionately nicknamed “Daisy,” for only $500. And while it didn’t start its journey with him as the prettiest example, he quickly turned it around with some simple and cheap repairs. Josh’s video outlines all the issues he found and the steps he takes to address them. He was also fortunate in that the vehicle had a brand-new clutch installed before he purchased it, taking one of the more worrisome components out of the equation.

The first issue he addressed was the cracking, weathered tail lights. He substituted the units with a set of LED replacements he purchased on Amazon for $34. A great price for how drastically it improves the overall look of the Wrangler!

Wrangler Fender Flares

The Wrangler also has no fender flares. Perhaps a stylistic choice, or a victim of some questionable driving. Regardless, Stoney Ridge Farmer ordered himself a new set from Amazon. After struggling to figure out the install at first due to a lack of installation instructions, he eventually got them installed. The flares extend the body line by five inches, installing a set of wheel spacers is an adequate solution.

Overall these simple additions made quite the visual impact! Stoney Ridge Farmer seems to have found himself an excellent affordable project Jeep, and these simple solutions made for an excellent DIY video. What do you think?
