Wrangler Will Retain Its Boxy Appeal in New JL Generation
To date, our insight about the upcoming new JL Wrangler has been limited to a few sketchy details and spy shots at best. But it looks like we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief when it comes to one thing about the new model.
Despite a few aerodynamic changes for better fuel efficiency, the new Jeep will still sport the basic box shape that’s been a staple of the SUV for decades. The much-welcomed news came during an Automotive News interview with Jeep CEO Mike Manley.
“You have to be very careful with the aero of Wrangler, because at the end of the day, it needs to be recognizable as a Wrangler,” Manley told the auto industry news source.
The goal, of course, is to make the next Wrangler more fuel efficient than the current JK with plans to offer a turbocharged four-cylinder engine along with the Pentastar V6. Which I’m sure most here can probably appreciate, just not at the expense of that iconic Wrangler look that we’ve become so accustomed to over the years.
