Will Jeep Finally Build the Pickup of our Dreams?
Much like the Acura NSX, Jeep has continually teased the public with the possibility of a Wrangler based pick-up. Over the years, Jeep built quite a few concepts that were extremely well-received by both the public and the automotive press, including the 2005 Gladiator concept, and the JK-8 that went on the 2012 Moab Easter Safari.
Even though the concepts were almost universally liked, the executives over at Jeep thought that if the company would introduce a pickup, it might encroach on the Ram’s sales figures too much. That however, might all be changing.
With the next generation Wrangler getting ready to begin production in just a few short years, Jeep’s CEO Mike Manley stated that a pickup based Wrangler might still be in the cards. Manley did reiterate that the economic issues involving the Ram/Wrangler pickup are still ever-present, but because of the great reaction to those concepts, Jeep might not have a choice but to build one.
Personally, we hope that the company goes through with it and builds the full pickup, it’d would definitely be the best of both worlds. And come on, who wouldn’t want a Jeep pickup? They’d be flying off the shelves.
