Couple Goes Off-roading for First Time in a Jeep, Instantly Falls in Love

Caravanning duo rented beefy JL Wrangler for their first-ever experience traversing the legendary Moab, Utah.

Moab. Jeep Heaven. To the faithful, Moab is, well, Moab. It’s the place to make your four-wheeling pilgrimage. If you haven’t been, then you’re missing out. And if your Jeep could hack it on some of Moab’s more treacherous trails, then you’re Jeep royalty.

But what happens when you don’t eat, sleep, and breathe four-wheeling? Well, then Moab is simply a natural treasure that you need to visit. To Fate Unbound’s David and Jenni Hiser, their first trip to Moab shocked them because of the number of Jeeps roaming the great outdoors. This couple sold everything they owned and hit the road in their camper, documenting everything along the way. Now, they’re back in Utah and ready to hit the trails. Consider this video Moab through a couple of sets of fresh eyes.

Knowing that their older two-wheel-drive Silverado isn’t up to the task, the couple rents a white JL Unlimited from Twisted Jeep rentals, and sets off to conquer some trails. Their Jeep has been upgraded with bigger tires, an aftermarket exhaust, and some suspension work, so the pair knows that they’re in good hands here.

First up is Shafer Trail in Canyonlands National Park. “We knew if we were ever going to get a Jeep in Moab we’d have to hit the Shafer switchbacks,” David said, barely containing his excitement. The trail may not be too challenging on a perfect sunny day, but its sweeping views and hairpins that descend hundreds of feet make it one of the most breathtaking drives in the world.

Next is the Long Canyon trail, which is all fun and games until they reach Pucker Pass. This is by no means an expert trail, but to two people who have never gone off-roading, it’s probably pretty intense. Then, just like that, it’s all over, and David and Jenni return their JL after a day of adventures.

If you know Moab like the back of your hand, then this probably isn’t the video for you. But by the end of their day, David and Jenni now love Jeeps. They’re brand new Wrangler fans. In fact, David ends the video by saying: “I think a Jeep might be in our future, what do you say?” We hope that it is, and we hope that they make it back to Moab for more adventures soon.
