Watch JMC RIDES Get his $90,000 Jeep Stuck on Purpose

By -

Surely, we’ve all gotten our Jeep stuck in loose sand while out wheeling. But have you ever done it on purpose to test a product?

In the world of four wheeling, getting stuck in a Jeep is almost a rite of passage. The act of getting stuck doesn’t discriminate – it happens to both the most seasoned, and the novice wheelers. It’s a happening that christens an off-roader, refining the ability to respond to stress. It is also a very quick way to remind a wheeler of what equipment they need to drop some coin on before their next outing.

Well, in John from JMC RIDES‘ case, this video served as an excellent representation of just that. Taking to the beaches of New York, John takes his 2017 Jeep Wrangler to get stuck. On purpose. This wasn’t just to be a hooligan, though – it was to test out a product sent to him by Deadman Off-Road. Once at the beach set to be the stage for such an outrageous test for a proposed $90,000 Jeep, John began the task of getting the Jeep stuck.

After finding the perfect patch of loose sand, John disabled 4WD and set the Jeep into 2WD. After doing so, John made short work of getting the Jeep’s back wheels and rear diff buried in the sand. He even took the time to show on camera that the Jeep’s rear end was so deeply embedded in the sand, that he was now taller than his Jeep.

“I know camera angles can be kind of deceiving, but my regular viewers know that my Jeep is really big,” said John. “Right now, I’m taller than my own Jeep. And that’s because the whole thing has really sunk into the sand.”

The product chosen to rescue John’s Jeep, which is rightly gaining popularity among the off-road community is the Earth Anchor. As John points out, the only thing that a beached (pardon the pun) driver is required to do is dig a hole about two-three feet deep. After the hole has been dug, the anchor is to be placed in the hole and buried once again. The anchor comes with four very long and sturdy straps that are to be held by a D-ring and attached to a winch.

“Alright guys, this is going to be my cardio for the day,” says John as he reaches for the shovel stowed in his Jeep. “I was supposed to bring my nephew with me today to make him do this, but he got out of it.”

One time lapse later, and John’s got the Jeep ready to be pulled out of the sandpit by the Earth Anchor. After setting some tension on the winch line, he climbs into the Jeep, sets it to 4LO, and lets the winch do its magic. He’s understandably impressed with the anchor, but decides to try one more test. He re-buries the Jeep, and steps out of the Jeep to use his wireless Warn remote for his bumper. From behind the camera, he’s able to control the winch from a distance. This time, the rescue was performed by the winch and the anchor alone – no interference from the Jeep’s 4WD.

“I’m definitely going to keep this in the back of my Jeep,” said John excitedly. “Just in case – you never know when I’d need it, like if I’m somewhere and there aren’t any trees to help pull me out. This will definitely save the day.”

And just like that, his $90,000 Jeep was saved – twice – by a part that costs $225.
