UPS Staff Buys Coworker a Much-Needed Jeep

UPS Employee Walked 25 Miles to Work Before Being Gifted a Jeep Cherokee

Derrick Taylor of Oxford, Alabama was recently treated to a pleasant surprise at work. And at the center of all the excitement is a Jeep Cherokee.

Well, actually, the true stars of this story are Taylor’s coworkers at UPS, who all chipped in to help buy him the Jeep, after learning he was walking 25 miles to get to work.

Oh, and that’s 25 miles each way, rain or shine. That may explain Taylor’s huge smile on his face in The Anniston Star photo above.

It appears that the gesture has also struck a chord with a lot of other people. A video of Taylor receiving the Jeep was posted on Facebook by one of Taylor’s coworkers last month. It’s already garnered over 4-million views! The video also has been shared more than 55,000 times, and gotten more than 90,000 other emoji responses.

It took Taylor’s coworkers about a month to pull together the money to buy the Jeep and fix it up. Even some of the local UPS retirees jumped in to help get Taylor fixed up with a solid set of wheels to get to work.

Typically, there’s a group of Jeep lovers at the center of these stories, which we love to cover here at JK Forum. But in this case, Jeep is clearly secondary to some great-hearted people who speak to a spirit that’s even bigger than Jeep.
