How-To Tuesday: Proper Soft Top Washing
I’m sure that most of you probably keep your JKs from getting dirty, right? Maybe? Okay, not so much. As we all know, the JK has a lot of different options to keep the elements out, should you so choose to do that. Let’s say for the sake of argument that you are driving the orange Rubicon in the picture above, though. And if that’s the case you’re going to need to wash it, eventually. So just hit it with a high powered sprayer right? Not so fast.
This week’s How-To Tuesday article is going to get you all educated on soft-top etiquette. So can you simply run through the car wash at the end of the street? Of course you can. Is that the best option for the lifetime of your soft top? I would say that is a solid no.
Your soft top is going to try and break down over time. Just like the paint and finish on your Jeep, you need to properly protect the top. There are a lot of times where we simply just wax the paint and then take the top for granted, but it’s time to stop doing that. Obviously it’s easiest to just hose it down, but taking the extra time and effort will pay dividends for your Jeep. There are a few options beyond the standard soap and water and this week’s article goes into those details.
Do you have a specific routine that you like to use for your soft top? Start with the top and work your way down? What products do you recommend? Let us know!
