Trail-dominating Jeep JK Rubicon Is Your October ROTM Winner
Member Jeep features a laundry list of mods, but it’s not just some show boat – it also hits local trails regularly.
Each month, our members here at JK-Forum submit their personal Jeeps for Ride of the Month consideration. And then, our members are the ones who choose the Jeep that goes on to achieve this glorious distinction. For the month of October, we can safely say they did one heck of a job, too. Because this 2012 JK Rubicon owned by member icrashbikes (or Justin in the real world) isn’t just some cream puff piece. It’s a purpose-built ride that gets used each and every weekend.
Justin started out with a bone stock but loaded 2-door, which was the only 6-speed he could find anywhere near his New Jersey residence. From there, he immediately began attacking the suspension. Up front, the Dana 44 was treated to sleeves and gussets, 5.13 Revolution gears, and a Riddler diff cover. The rear axle received the same, plus an Artec truss, 3-link mount, and Ten Factory shafts. Justin then added some serious goodies including a Rock Krawler 3.5” long arm kit with Fox 2.0 shocks, PSC crossmember, and a Dynatrac big brake kit, to name a few.
Then it was on to the exterior, which mixes up a host of functional and visual mods. They include a PSC BFH Trail Stinger bumper and 3D-printed license plate bracket up front. The factory fender flares were trimmed to help make room for a set of 17″ Level 8 Tracker Pro wheels wrapped in 37″ BFG KO2 tires. PSC also provided the aluminum front fender liners and hood louvers. And even more 3D printed parts emerge in the headlight housings and wheel hub rings.
And that’s just touching the surface of the long list of mods performed on this Jeep. But despite that fact, Justin isn’t finished altering his trail toy just yet. Future plans call for a PSC trail cage and rear crossmember, along with some new Rigid lighting. Eventually, he’d like to also get bigger wheels, axles, and a new hi-po engine.
But for now, it’s pretty clear that this JK Jeep is more than worthy of Ride of the Month status. And now, we’re on to November, as a certain NFL head coach might say.
