Throwback Thursday: ’87 Wrangler Ad Is All Kinds of Creepy
We’re guessing most folks probably never thought of the Wrangler as some scary monster lurking in the dark. But this commercial apparently wanted to change that.
Sure, there’s some pretty menacing variants out there now, like this 707-horsepower beast we covered recently here at JK Forum. But even that Wrangler is more of an “in-your-face” kind of scary than the horror film kind found in the 1987 Wrangler ad posted below.
It makes you wonder what the creators were thinking when they developed the spot, which is credited to Willowbrook Dodge Ram Jeep in Langley. The idea of calling the Jeep a new legend with endless possibilities is fitting. But the sound of wolves howling in the dark against the backdrop of a full moon, as depicted in the beginning of the ad, well, that’s all kinds of creepy.
The ad does, however, make for a great Throwback Thursday post some 28 years later.
