2018 Jeep JL Wrangler: Ten Great Photographs
Do these photos excite you for what’s ahead?
In case you haven’t heard, Car & Driver recently got to drive the new JL-generation Wrangler. While they aren’t allowed to say anything about Jeep’s newest iteration of their iconic off-roader yet, they’ve released a few relevant photographs taken on that drive. We hope to get behind the wheel soon ourselves, but until then, we’ll have to find solace in these awesome shots of the newest addition to the Jeep family. Like the JK before it, the JL model is available in two and four-door models, both shown here.
Some of these photographs show off the Jeep’s serious off-road prowess, including a decent water fording depth (which we’re sure is deeper than what’s shown in the pictures). We’re not particularly surprised that the JL continues the Wrangler’s tradition as a truck you can count on when the trail gets rough, but we would have hoped for more pictures of suspension articulation or rock crawling. Then again, these are splashy photos for normal Wrangler buyers to get excited by. For the serious trailheads like us, well, we just happen to expect more from our Jeeps.

It seems unlikely that Jeep would build the Wrangler into a #MallRated poser cruiser, and we’re glad that at least some of these photos depict the sacred trail-rated savior as still being capable of going beyond where the pavement ends. What’s your take on the new JL? Is this going to be more of the awesome off-road mod-able same, or is it going to prove more *scoffs* Compass than traditional Wrangler?
Our favorite will always be the serious two-door Rubicon version, but the four-door has some serious street presence too. Which do you prefer?
