Is it true? Could Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) actually be having a change of heart? Could they really be making plans to launch a Hellcat model of the Jeep Grand Cherokee after all?

Apparently so. Well, that’s if you buy into some of the recent news flying around the car industry, first sparked by a Car and Driver report.

The magazine has pulled together a list of the 25 cars worth waiting for from 2016 – 2019, and in it, the trusted auto source says that a 707-horsepower supercharged Grand Cherokee is on its way. After months of “yes” and “no” reports, it appears the super-Jeep might really be built.

According to Car and Driver, the new high-powered SUV would likely come in the form of a 2017 supercharged Trackhawk model.

Given how unpredictable the business can be for specialty vehicles of this nature, the news could be different tomorrow. But with reports that the high-powered Grand Cherokee might do 60 mph in less than four seconds, I’d say the frustration we’ve endured waiting to get official word from FCA is a small price to pay if it actually goes into production.
