Jeep Launches Powerful New E-Bike
It’s a cool new way for Jeep owners to get around.
Jeep owners tend to be a bit more outdoorsy than most car enthusiast groups. When it comes to branded swag, you notice a bit more variety as a result. In addition to branded hats and teeshirts, you’ll also find Jeep-branded travel and outdoor gear, like a hammock or a multi-tool.
This new piece of gear is even more impressive. Hypebeast reports that Jeep is has released their first-ever e-bike. E-bikes are red-hot right now, and just like their full-size vehicles, this e-bike will be more capable off-road than its competitors.
The Jeep e-bike is powered by a 750W BAFANG M620 motor. It’s a powerful motor for an e-bike, and produces an impressive 160Nm of torque, which is roughly equivalent to 118 lb/ft of torque. That means that the Jeep e-bike is roughly three times as powerful as any other commuter e-bike out there. The rest of the drivetrain consists of a QuietKat 10-speed transmission.
Impressive Performance
The 1.5kWh battery provides a very respectable 40 miles of range, and when that runs out, you’ve always got pedal power. The specs for the rest of the 2020 Jeep e-bike are equally impressive, of course. Would you expect anything less from Jeep?
We love a good fat tire bike – who doesn’t? These measure 4.8 inches, and are suspended up front by a 150mm air suspension fork up front and a RockShox Monarch RL rear shock. The ride should be plush and comfortable, no matter what terrain you encounter. Stopping duties are handled by four-piston hydraulic disc brakes.
We’ll be honest, this wasn’t the new vehicle release we were most excited for this year. However, after learning about it ourselves, we’d like to have one of our own parked in the garage. It looks to be some of the most fun you could have in the bike lane – or on a dusty trail.
In our opinion, this would be the perfect e-bike for weekday commuting and weekend fun. The 2020 Jeep e-bike is available in two sizes, 17-inch and 19-inch, and starts at $5,899. It’s available now on QuietKat.
