Pope Francis to Ride in Wrangler During U.S. Visit
Perhaps there is no higher honor that could be bestowed upon the Wrangler than this one.
Yup, out of all the vehicles the Vatican could have picked for Pope Francis to ride in during his upcoming September visit to the U.S., they’ve selected a Wrangler, according to a Washington Post report.
The upfitted Wrangler, or “Popemobile” as the pontiff’s vehicles are routinely called, is currently in the hands of the U.S. Secret Service. They, along with many others, are awaiting the Pope’s arrival to the states, which will include stops in Washington D.C., New York, and Philadelphia.
It’s not the first time that Pope Francis has used a Jeep as his main mode of transportation during trips. He also used a Wrangler to make his way through the crowds during a recent trip to Ecuador.
Exactly what modifications will be made to the Popemobile remains to be seen. But the pontiff has made it clear that he prefers not to have a lot of obtrusive fixtures that separate him from the people, so we suspect the Wrangler’s open-air theme will remain intact.
