2024 Jeep Wrangler Willys Build-Off

Two friends are each building a two-door Jeep Wrangler Willys at the same time, with the winner taking home all the glory.

The Jeep Wrangler has long been perhaps the most commonly modified vehicle on the planet, and there are more “builds” out there than we can possibly count. Heck, on a daily basis, we pass at least a few of them on our way to go pretty much anywhere, whether that be across the street to the grocery store or out on a weekend off-road excursion. At this point, it’s pretty safe to assume that we’ve seen just about everything that can be done to the Jeep Wrangler, but a new build series from Epic Adventure Outfitters aims to do something a bit different.

In fact, the folks behind this particular outfit are building not just one, but two Jeep Wrangler Willys two-door models, side-by-side, in an epic competition of sorts. Turns out, both of our hosts were in need of a new off-road vehicle, and fans of the channel seem to love the Willys, in particular, making this a pretty easy choice.

The 2024 Willys has become a pretty attractive model in the expansive Wrangler lineup as well, combining the more affordable Sport S with the suspension setup from the Rubicon, such as the wider differentials, a rear locker, high-clearance fenders, and 33-inch BFGoodrich K02 rubber, all wrapped up in a rather affordable package, at least by today’s elevated standards, making it a great base for a build.

From here, our two hosts are going down their own separate paths, however, modifying their new Jeep Wrangler Willys in various ways with an eye toward making them more capable on rocky trails. Or, as our hosts call them, minimalist “rocklanders,” or vehicles that can tackle that type of terrain while also proving comfortable enough for overnight stays out on the trails.

Aside from the fact that one of these Jeep Wrangler Willys is powered by the turbo four and the other, the long-running 3.6-liter V6, both are also equipped with a few niceties such as the Convenience Package, the tech group, the hard top, and the safety group. The pair immediately removed the (somewhat useless) rear seats, but from here, they aren’t talking about what modifications lie ahead. Regardless, we’ll be sure to tune in and see what’s in store for this pair of Willys models, as well as which one turns ultimately comes out on top.
