Original Jeep Is Still Being Hand Built
In the Philippines, you can still get an original style Jeep, and it’s built in the original style too.
It’s tough to name another vehicle that has had licensed production more than the original Willy’s Jeep. Just about every car manufacturer had their hand in making them in some way or another.
Countries outside of the US have much more relaxed safety laws, and emissions laws… and copyright laws. Which means if you live in the Philippines, you can still get a new “old” Willy’s Jeep. And it’s not a robot made copy either. It’s hand-made.
And when we mean hand-made, we mean it. Yes there’s a plasma cutter for some pieces, but the majority of work joining those pieces is where the magic is at. C-clamps? Perfect, that’ll do just fine for the firewall. How about the rest of the body? Well, stand it on the floor, eyeball it, and weld it while a few others hold it in place. Jigs? Not here, buddy.
