The New Nitto Tire Terra Grappler G2
Nitto Tire recently released the newest model in the Terra Grappler line of off road and all terrain performance tires: the Terra Grappler G2. Now, we take a closer look into what makes the G2 a new evolution All Terrain Grappler.
First up for the improvements are the use of Coupling Joints between the tread block edge lugs and the center tread lugs. This increase in block edge rigidity improves wear for longer life, which is now warrantied up to 65-thousand miles on the hard metric sizes and up to 50-thousand miles on the LT-metric and floatation sizes.
Instead of half depth or shallower tread sipes, the G2 uses full depth siping. This isn’t just a functional benefit, as it is maintains the appearance of the tread design through the entire life of the tire.
The shoulder lugs on the G2 are staggered, which provides additional biting edges when you need to crawl over the rocks. The new design also connects the lugs down to the middle sidewall of the tire for more sidewall bite.
If noise is a concern for your tire choice, know that Nitto has that in mind when it comes to the tread block pattern. The variable pitch tread block design reduces the noise you hear as you travel down the highway when you compare it to other all-terrain tires. This means you can hear your music and still have the grip for off road.
Finally, the G2 has two distinct sidewall designs. One side stays true to the Terra Grappler design with the raised thunderbolt pattern. The other size features the new, aggressive “blade” design which showcases the integrated sidewall lugs. So you can be as bold as you want to be with sidewall design.
“The Terra Grappler G2 is Nitto’s next generation all-terrain light truck tire specifically designed to meet your everyday on and off-road adventures,” says Nitto Tire, “Whether you’re commuting to work, towing a trailer or headed up to your favorite mountain trail; the balanced off-road and on-road performance of the Terra Grappler G2 will get you to your destination.” Check it out at your local Nitto Tire dealer.
