Here’s your chance to own a well traveled Cherokee that’s an ode to Jeep’s recent past.

The XJ Cherokee is an SUV that will seemingly never go out of style. But the two door phenomenon seems even more distant than ever. These days, only the Wrangler offers something other than four doors. And a Comanche-style Gladiator is highly unlikely at the point. However, you can still satiate your retro Jeep cravings with a solid XJ that is currently up for auction.

Our featured 1995 Cherokee Sport recently appeared on Cars & Bids, an automotive auction website. Overall, it’s in very good shape. Additionally, it is fairly well traveled. With all examples of unmodified XJ Cherokees becoming more scarce by the day, an intact two door model is a real treat.

A Cherokee Imported From Germany

Believe it or not, this Cherokee saw some action overseas back in the day. The owner claims the Cherokee originally got delivered to a U.S. Armed Forces member stationed in Germany. Fortunately, they have adequate proof in the form of a reproduction window sticker and a service log that’s in German. Essentially, this Cherokee seems to be part of a program that allowed overseas service members the ability to order an American market vehicle to use in Europe on a temporary basis. Afterwards, the Jeep returned “home” and since 2000 resided in the south. Interestingly enough, the Jeep first arrived in Switzerland, according to the window sticker. Seems like this Jeep led an interesting life in its youth!

In addition to being well traveled, this Cherokee is well equipped. In addition to sporting the very fetching Emerald Green Pearl Coat paint job, it boasts Command-Trac four-wheel drive. The original owner opted for the Sport Package too, which was a smart decision. Although not directly related to the Sport trim, the package offered some nice luxuries for a reasonable price. Air conditioning, tilt steering, rear wiper, power mirrors, and a full size spare, among other features, came bundled with the Sport Package.

Looking Good

Fortunately, both owners of this very nice looking two door Cherokee kept it in good condition. The Jeep has so far traveled just under 130k miles in its life. For a 25 year old car, that’s a great figure. Additionally, the paint is in solid shape and the interior is mostly intact. Since something like this Cherokee are never perfect, there are some flaws. The paint has some scratches, dings, and dents, although they appear minor. Some interior bits are aging and probably should be replaced. Plus, there’s a tear in the rear seat area. Perhaps most concerning is an occasional puff of blue smoke when accelerating. But those problems are easily fixable.

Not Modified

Ultimately, what makes this Jeep so worthy of our lust is the simple fact that it has remained essentially stock after all these years. While modified Jeeps are no doubt cool, there need to be at least some models saved for preservation purposes. This two door Cherokee is a prime candidate that should be left as is. Aside from the tires, a new “old stock” steering wheel, and some aftermarket shocks, this is the real deal. Hopefully, the next owner keeps it that way.

Bidding on this excellent Jeep ends September 9. So far, there’s been 7 bids, with the highest currently at $5,200. Clearly, a Cherokee like this is still coveted by a decent amount of folks. Cars & Bids prides itself on its commenting system, so any questions for the owner can be left there. Ultimately, this two door Cherokee seems totally worth buying!
