Mr. Regular Takes On a Hard Core Custom Comanche MJ
Legendary in its own right.
Yup, I’m guessing that’d be the general consensus among a lot of Jeep fans when it comes to the old-school MJ Comanche pickups.
Built from the XJ Cherokee SUV, the Comanche was essentially a frame meshed to the back of a uni-body to give the vehicle the functionality of a pickup. But it’s the fact that the Jeep was engineered as a rear-wheel-drive pickup with an optional 4.0-liter straight-six engine and a five-speed transmission that has made it iconic.
And yet, one brave Comanche owner has decided to enhance the performance appeal of his 1991 MJ even more. The mods include a 1996 Cherokee dual-diaphragm brake booster and master cylinder, NiCopp brake lines, a V8 ZJ Grand Cherokee cut to shorter height, and 2003/2004 Mustang Cobra deep-dish wheels, just to name a few of the mods.
It also features a short-throw shifter, which seems to makes you even more inclined to push the limit in the MJ when behind the wheel, as highlighted in the video review below by none other than Mr. Regular of RegularCars.
