MLB Player Still Drives Same Jeep He Drove in High School

Jeep MLB player

If there’s one thing that most here at JK Forum can probably can relate to, it’s the idea that you never really grow tired of your Jeep – regardless of how much money you end up making.

Take, for example, MLB’s rising star, Charlie Blackmon, who will make $3.5 million in 2016, but still drives the 12-year-old Grand Cherokee Laredo he’s owned since his senior year in high school. And no, it isn’t some super rad, beefed-up custom Jeep wrapped with the name of some well-known (or even lesser-known) custom car shop.

Nope, not at all.

According to a USA Today report, Blackmon’s 2004 Grand Cherokee has been pretty much maintained in the same way it was when new, with a few upgrades like new headlights and tires. Apparently, the Jeep has already spent some time in the celebrity spotlight when the Colorado Rockies’ player was caught running out of gas in the Jeep.

But it sounds like it’s the simplicity of it all that keeps Blackmon attached to the Grand Cherokee, as highlighted in the video clip below.

“This is my car. Nobody else has this car. You look around this parking lot, you see a lot of other cars, nobody has this one,” says Blackmon. “This car is the everyday of the week car. I don’t have to figure out what car I’m going to have to drive today so I just drive the same thing, all the time.”
