Jeep “Hellhawk”, the Trackhawk’s Imaginary Older Brother

Modified 707-horsepower Grand Cherokee SRT8 is said to be nearly a second faster than the highly anticipated Jeep Trackhawk. Chew on those apples.

The next time one of those track-crazed, import-driving friends of yours tries to belittle your love for Jeep, save your breath and just forward them this video capturing a Grand Cherokee SRT (fitted with a Hellcat engine) ripping a mind-blowing quarter-mile run at Maple Grove Raceway in Pennsylvania.

The entire clip is a little over 30 seconds long, but it only takes the modified Grand Cherokee SRT8, dubbed the “Hellhawk,” less than 11 seconds to make the point.

Well, make that 10.8 seconds at a 128 mph to be exact. According to CarBuzz, that’s almost one whole second faster than the highly-anticipated Jeep Trackhawk. But more specific to shutting down those import fans of yours, the earth-shattering speed puts the Jeep right on par with super cars like the Nissan GT-R and Ferrari 458 Speciale. It’s tough to make out exactly what the competitive vehicle is in the video form the run at Maple Grove Raceway, but with the kind of speed this Jeep SRT8 is packing, it’s really a moot point.

The modification details on the Hellhawk Jeep are fairly sketchy, aside from the fact that it’s equipped with a 707-horsepower engine. Though, from the sound of this beast on the track, you get the sense that there’s a lot more that’s been put into the Jeep than a Hellcat engine. That said, it appears that most of the original SRT8 external performance elements have been kept intact.
