2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited

Jeep Wrangler has been modified for off-road fun, but it will still make a great daily driver.

While scrolling through the vehicles listed for sale in the JK-Forum Marketplace, we came across this 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited. This rig was posted for sale by Narc99 and it looks like the perfect vehicle for someone who wants better-than-stock capabilities without compromising the traits that make it a great daily driver. It has a long mod list and it looks the part of an off-road-ready JKU, but you can still enjoy driving it to and from work every day.

When the OP posted this 2008 Jeep Wrangler for sale, the following information was provided.

2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited

This is a 2008 Sahara unlimited 4 door Jeep Wrangler, it has an aftermarket front and back bumpers, aftermarket front and rear diff covers, mile maker winch with rope line, all the lights have been changed to LED except two sets of spot lights, molded rear corners, onboard air compressor, front half roll cage with CB and control switches from air compressor and spot lights, Poison Spyder rock rails, reinforced axle knuckles, Teraflex lift, 35″ BF Goodrich T/A tires with full spare, aftermarket tire carrier, blue water can and red fuel can. It has half doors, soft top and hardtop, front passenger compartment in bed lined no carpet. The very back has carpet. It has an aftermarket radio, bluebook is 22272.00. We agree that some modifications have not been mentioned, starting with the engine snorkel, but we don’t know what else isn’t listed. We do know that there is no mention of mileage, and that is key information when buying a Jeep that is nearly 12 years old. However, if you are looking for a lightly modified JKU, this might be a very attractive option.

Best of all, it is a manual transmission model, so it is particularly enticing for those Jeepers who enjoy banging their own gears.

Let’s Talk Pricing

This 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited is listed in the marketplace with a price of $23,000 or best offer. The OP points out that the vehicle has a blue book value of $22,272 and when we checked KBB.com for pricing, we got a number in that general area. When we entered in the seller’s location, we got a range of $20,492 to $23,107 for a vehicle in the best condition. We aren’t sure that this Wrangler is really in the best condition without seeing it in person, but keep in mind that the Kelley Blue Book numbers don’t factor in any upgrades.

While we should point out that $100 worth of upgrades do not lead to $100 more vehicle value, the upgrades made to this Wrangler do add value to the vehicle. What might seem like a high asking price, leaning towards the upper end of the KBB scale, the value of the upgrades easily add a few thousand dollars to the overall value of the vehicle.

In other words, $23,000 might be a bit high for a stock 2008 Wrangler Unlimited, but when you factor in the upgrades and the overall condition, this seems like a pretty solid deal.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
