JK Forum Member Comes Up With Nifty Hardtop Hoist
Chances are, if you own a Wrangler Unlimited, you can attest to the fact that getting that hard top off and stored can be as tough as navigating some of the toughest trails.
Sure, in the bigger scope of things, it’s a small burden, given how much fun the four-door Wranglers are. But it still can turn out to be a pretty time consuming task, and practically impossible to pull off alone.
However, JK Forum member, HG07JKRubi, has come up with a pretty nifty hoist and storage system that can help alleviate some of the pain that comes with managing that hardtop.
The system, posted in the thread here, uses what HGO7JKRubi describes as a two-step approach. First, lifting the top up to his garage ceiling using a hoist bar and hand winch. Then, once the top gets up to the ceiling, he lowers it onto a suspended wood shelf.
In a step by step diagram, HG07JKRubi lays out the entire process for building the hoist and storage pulley system, ranging from a detailed list of the parts needed to precise measurements for assembling the unit.
The entire thing is pretty innovative and something that we’re sure a lot of other JK Forum members will find useful as well. Nice work, HGO7JKRubi.
