Jeep ‘RoadM8’ Concept Is a Hotel on Wheels…Literally!

Super 8 is heading to N.Y. with a one-of-kind Jeep that ingeniously highlights chain’s recent $100 mil in renovations.

The concept of outfitting specialized off-road vehicles like the Jeep Wrangler to serve as rolling, self-sustaining living spaces is nothing new. In fact, overlanding has exploded in popularity in recent years as more and more enthusiasts head out into the wilderness for days and even weeks at a time. Everything you need to transform your Jeep into a rolling “hotel” is readily available in the aftermarket. And yet, this crazy concept from Super 8 is still one of the more ingenious things we’ve ever seen.

The hotel chain is rolling this mobile Jeep hotel, dubbed “RoadM8,” into the 2018 New York International Auto Show. The idea is to highlight the $100 million in renovations they’ve completed at more than 1,800 hotels across North America. The fully-customized, road-trip ready machine isn’t just some kind of silly marketing stunt, however. In fact, the sheer amount of thought that went into building this Jeep is simply mind-boggling.

On the outside, going with Super 8’s red/yellow color scheme was a no-brainer. As was displaying their logo on the spare tire cover. But the real story on this unique build lies under the surface. For starters, lift the hood, and you’ll be treated to some pretty amazing “hyper-local” black and white artwork. Then you move on to the interior, which is the real star of the show. Super 8 trimmed everything in the same modern, custom fabric patterns and colors found in their newly renovated rooms.

And as you’d expect from a real-life hotel room, there’s also an on-demand coffee machine built into the rear console to fuel your java habit. While you sip on your fresh cup of Joe, you can scope out more of Super 8’s artwork displayed on a pair of seatback tablets. You’ll also find road-trip necessities like a built-in fridge, plenty of USB connections for powering your devices, and even Wi-Fi.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the Jeep RoadM8, of course, is the fact that no one has ever thought to do this before. Sure, it’s pretty common to outfit vehicles for long trips. But to actually transform something into a straight-up replica of a hotel room? The only thing missing is room service!
