We Have a Jeep Renegade! What Do YOU Want to Know?
The Jeep Renegade is the newest product in the red-hot Jeep lineup. Sharing a platform with the Fiat 500X, and developed as part of the new global FCA brand, the Renegade is unlike the other smaller Jeeps you can currently buy. And we just happen to have one in our review garage for the week.
So? What do you want to know?!
Our Italian-built (yes, final construction is in Melfi, Italy) Sport version comes with the 1.4L MultiAir turbocharged engine that appears in the Fiat 500 Abarth. That’s good for 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Our model is also a four-wheel drive version.
But joy of joys, our review unit also has a row-your-own 6-speed manual transmission! A 9-speed automatic will surely be the volume seller, but the manual transmission does make it feel like I’m having more fun.
The real selling point on this vehicle is the price. A four-wheel drive Sport model starts at $19,995. That’s a tiny bit misleading though, because the base version doesn’t have air conditioning, which I’d consider a necessity. That’s part of a $1,495 Power and Air group that includes cruise control and power heated mirrors.
The only other option to note is the $1,095 My Sky Fixed / Removable Panels. Basically it’s a way to give you that Wrangler feeling by removing the roof panels.
All in, we’re looking at $23,775 for our Sierra Blue Renegade. If you have any questions, reach out to me in the forums or on Twitter and I’ll answer some in a future post.
