Jeep Could Offer Plug-In Hybrid Wagoneer Variant
Not sure how this news escaped me over the past couple of weeks. But let’s just go ahead and blame it on all the buzz around the Los Angeles Auto show.
Either way, news that Jeep has plans to introduce a hybrid version of the forthcoming new Grand Wagoneer — as highlighted in a Car and Driver report — raises a few questions.
One, how much will it add to the additional cost of the new Grand Wagoneer, which is already rumored to be somewhere north of $100,000? And two, will people be interested in a full-size luxury Jeep powered by the plug-in technology?
My gut tells me that some people might be interested, but will it be enough to justify the surcharge that the more high-tech option will cost consumers? Of course, I guess it’s important to remember that predicting the buying impulses of the rich and elite is probably a lot different than predicting that of the average Wrangler buyer.
