Jeep JL Wrangler Build Will Conquer Any Sand Dune in its Way

By -

While many Jeep Wrangler builds follow the same path, this one was designed to survive a very different kind of environment.

One could easily argue that the Jeep Wrangler is the most customized vehicle in existence. Finding a Wrangler that hasn’t been modified in at least some tiny way is often akin to locating a needle in a haystack. But when you reside out in the vast desert of the Middle East, your required modifications are, well, a bit different than most. You worry more about sandstorms than mud holes, as well as simply getting lost in the middle of the sandy void, staring at some kind of oasis.

Thus, this particular Jeep JL project, dubbed “Project Sandstorm,” is a bit unique. As you can clearly see in this video from Tony Sam Noel, it shares some similarities with most Wrangler builds. But at the same time, there’s enough unique flair here to truly set it apart. And, well, survive the many extremes this part of the world places on any vehicle. Things like a Garmin GPS unit mounted inside to help the driver find his way out of the sandy void, should he get lost.

You’ll also undoubtedly notice that this particular Jeep doesn’t have a massive lift or huge, knobby tires. In fact, both are rather modest. But navigating through and over sand dunes is much different than rock crawling. In this case, you want to keep your Jeep upright, and this setup aims to do just that. Otherwise, this Wrangler features most of the same mods that you see on just about any other build.

That includes goodies like Fox shocks, Flowmaster exhaust, Rigid/KC lighting, and a Warn winch. Method Race wheels compliment the Jeep’s looks quite nicely, and are wrapped in the aforementioned Cooper tires. Other additions include parts from the likes of Infinite Offroad, Argoob 4×4, D3 Design, Trigger, and Synergy Manufacturing.

There are also a pair of Jerry cans mounted out back for obvious reasons. As in, running out of gas in the middle of the desert is a bad idea. Unlike our friendly local trails, the chances of other people coming along to help is not quite something you can count on. And we can imagine that getting stranded out there isn’t exactly what anyone would call fun.

If nothing else, this particular Jeep build demonstrates the flexibility of the platform better than most. While many Wranglers tend to follow the same path, this one was built to suit its owner and environment. And it just proves that this highly modular platform can be modified to go anywhere you need it to go!
