Jeep Has Biggest Sales Month in the History of Jeep
The year 2015 was an EXCELLENT year for new vehicle sales in the United States. While most automakers had a good year, Jeep specifically is really kicking butt and taking names. Last month was the best year ever for the company. That’s excellent news for a whole bunch of reasons.
Jeep sales were up 42% in December, helped by big gains with Cherokee (33%) and Grand Cherokee (22%). Don’t leave out the little Renegade, either. That little tyke sold 8,957 units, making it FCA’s 7th most popular vehicle overall.
So why does sales of non-Wranglers matter? Money. As fans of the Wrangler, we really do want Jeep to make money on their other products. The Wrangler is, and has been, a strong seller with strong resale value, but the more money that Jeep makes overall the more they have to spend on the Wrangler.
For example, if you want to see a Wrangler pickup truck, Jeep needs to be successful elsewhere. If you want to see the re-designed Wrangler sooner than later, Jeep needs to be successful elsewhere. It’s the reason why Porsche still makes 911s; because the Cayenne does well.
The brand is on fire, and with low gas prices and banks willing to loan money, the only direction I see them going is up. That, friends, is good for everyone.
