Jeep Rubicon + Bill Murray + Superbowl Commercial

Jeep Gladiator used for in the popular ad is on the lot of Michigan dealership, with only 20 miles on the ticker.

The true MVP and clear winner of the 2020 Super Bowl commercials was Jeep. Their spot “Groundhog Day” was a huge hit among viewers and critics alike. On YouTube, the commercial was the most-viewed ad from the Super Bowel, clocking over 50 million views. It was the perfect formula: Bill Murray, a killer Jeep Gladiator, a classic flick, and a groundhog. Now, that same Jeep Gladiator is for sale at Moore Auto Group in Michigan.

Jeep chose the 2020 Gladiator from Moore to be featured in the ad. Although, the folks at Moore were kept in the dark on that detail. FCA called the dealer requesting use of the custom Gladiator Rubicon.

“I actually saw it in the Super Bowl and said ‘that was the best commercial ever,” Denny King, internet manager and salesman told WXYZ news. “I had no clue until the next morning… that was our Jeep.”

Now the Jeep has been returned to Moore, and it is for sale. Only very slightly used. Two Jeeps were used in the filming, the one from Moore and a nearly-identical twin from a Wisconsin dealership.

“They had [the Jeeps] for a couple weeks,” says King. “They shot the commercial January 26-27 in Illinois. Apparently, they pick them up from the dealership (and took) them to Penske in Detroit to be cleaned.”

So, playing to their strengths, Moore is featuring the notable Jeep on their website and in their own ads. We’re guessing that this will go fast. The commercial was a memorable and hilarious re-imagining of the classic flick. Except in this version, Murray gleefully relives the same day; this time around, he and co-pilot Punxsutawney Phil go off on in a series of adventures in the Gladiator; living and driving like there’s no tomorrow.

With the cool factor combo of Bill Murray and the stunning orange Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, it’s definitely going to garner some interest. According to King people have been stopping by Moore to see the Jeep, and even take selfies with the Gladiator.

The price tag comes to about $57,000. But it would be a ride we would happily drive over and over again.

And we just have to see that commercial one more time.
