So, this Exists: 1986 Jeep Wagoneer Woody Limousine
We respect the freedom to do whatever you want with creativity. But we have to ask…what did the Jeep do to deserve this?
The Grand Wagoneer remains a fan favorite in the Jeep community. And not just for the sake of nostalgia. During its time, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer was a very respectable and back road-capable SUV. Built on the full-size SJ-platform, it had everything we want from a Jeep: well-built, versatile, off-road aptitude, solid four-wheel drive, spacious cabin, creature comforts, and so on. Plus, the Woody had the added appeal of faux-wood paneling. Sorry, dated though it may be, we still love it.
Basically, it was a great sport utility vehicle with the looks and performance. Today, Jeep Wagoneers are a hot commodity in the resale market, especially Woodys. Which is how we came across this.
Listed at Barn Finds, this 1986 custom Jeep Wagoneer Woody limousine–yes, limousine–is currently for sale. For only $10K, you can own this. Of course, what exactly this could be used for is still unclear.
Now, we will say that the stretch Wagoneer is not without its charms. One of 12 built, this Jeep does have some body damage from a hail storm. But the seller claims it runs well and is “really fun to drive.” Which we don’t doubt. However…where this is fun to drive is unclear.
But wait–there’s more! It’s also impractical!
If there is one thing you do not want in an off-road or sport utility vehicle it is a long rigid body, extended wheelbase, and poor visibility. This has all of it–and more!
We aren’t going to shade the interior because frankly, it is pretty awesome. Sure, it is dated, but it is an 1986 model year. Television, state of the art VCR, and we assume a bar? Well, we might be changing our mind on this.
Whomever the previous owner was, he or she apparently loved it, racking up almost 93K on the odometer.
One person in the comments had a good idea to use the long Woody as transportation for a ski resort. Wouldn’t risk it too far off the the paved roads, otherwise it would work perfectly.
As a novelty, this could be a very cool limousine. As a Wagoneer, ehh, it misses the mark. However, we do underwrite it if it means we get more classic Wagoneer Woodys on the road.
