Jeep Finally Starts Re-Shipping Renegades

All-new 2015 Jeep® Renegade Trailhawk

It seems like every time we open up our browser, Jeep is recalling the new Renegade. Whether it was for the transmission issues previously, or the latest issue with a software glitch, the little terrier-esque CUV has already had a pretty tough life. Thankfully, and hopefully, all of that is now over.

According to Autoblogwho spoke with FCA’s Jeep PR division, the Renegade is heading back to dealers once again. FCA stated that while the Renegade has had some problems in the past, those are all fixed, and that the recent issue wasn’t a software bug, but rather, “many of the vehicles were built with an atypical VIN that may not be recognized as valid by some computer systems.”

We’re not sure how or what an atypical VIN is, but it sounds like the machine they use to build VINs went on the fritz and somehow tagged a bunch of Renegades with VINs that just wouldn’t work, especially when it comes to registering the vehicles. Before Jeep realized the error, the company had already sold around 20 to customers in the U.S. Thankfully, it’s all been fixed and now we can wait till the next issue… I mean the next bit of news.
