Jeep Driver Texts His Way Into a Marina
The next time you’re in your Jeep and get the urge to text a friend, remember this: Jeep adventures that include water maneuvers are better off planned, regardless of what kind of model you’re driving.
As weird as that might sound, that very tip could have actually saved a 21-year-old in South Pasadena, Florida a pretty embarrassing moment, with his parents and local police. According to a local WFLA News report, David Avery Hughes wound up driving the family’s 2003 Jeep Liberty into a marina after missing a turn to his condo because he was texting.
Interesting enough, Hughes managed to escape from the Jeep before police arrived, telling authorities that he actually walked home while the Jeep sat submerged in about eight feet of water. However, what Hughes wasn’t able to escape were the charges and citations that come with a fiasco such as his, which in this case included texting while driving, careless driving, and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage.
Of course, on the bright side, things could have turned out a whole lot worse for Hughes.
