Wrangler Easter Eggs

Jeep’s 2020 Wrangler Rubicon continues to carry the Jeep DNA, but improved features make life with a Wrangler more fun than ever.

We already know how good the Wrangler is. But, amazingly, Jeep continues to find areas to refine and improve while still leaving the Wrangler’s rugged toughness intact. CarBuzz had a new Wrangler Rubicon to evaluate, and for the 2020 model, this rig is better than ever.

One of the things we’ve anticipated for a while is a diesel engine. For 2020, Wrangler has a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel option. As this CarBuzz report points out, this is the same engine you’ll find in a RAM 1500. That means you get big power in a compact Wrangler package.

Power output is impressive. Horsepower is stout at 260, but it’s the torque that thins Wrangler really deserves. Torqe is 442 lb/ft and Car and Driver says that figure peaks at 1400 RPM. This is the punchy and torquey kind of engine the Wrangler has always needed. Sadly, there’s no ability to get this engine with a manual transmission. We hope Jeep will change their mind on that.

Easter Eggs

Of course, you can’t truly experience the Wrangler without driving with some panels off. Jeep has a trio of new options for a top. You can get the canvas top or body colored hardtop, but a new Sky One-Touch retractable soft top is available too. This offers the benefits of the loved open-air elements of the soft top, while offering the sturdiness and safety of the hardtop.

Hit a button and a large canvas top scoots itself to the back offering an open-air experience. Were you used to storing your hardtop? Well, you’ll no longer need to do that with this $3,995 option. And of course, you can get the doors off quickly and easily with special cubby holes designed to keep your hardware in a safe area.

You’ll get the usual Jeep Easter eggs, too. A pair of sandals are embossed on some plastic trim, an original boxy Willy’s is outlined on the windshield frame. that same Willy’s outline is repeated on the rims, and the Wrangler stats for dimensions and water fording are stamped on a plaque. Pretty darn cool if you ask us!
