With Stellantis struggling financially in North America, the automaker is looking to its successful Jeep CEO to right the proverbial ship.

As many are well aware by now, Stellantis has been struggling across its North American business for months now. Amid falling sales and declining profits, the automaker has pared back its lineup, ditched V8 engines in general, and discontinued a handful of beloved models, though those moves have proven controversial with its North American dealers. With inventory levels swelling as well, Stellantis is looking to shave some white collar positions and trim down inventory while working to boost sales, but now, it’s also executing some executive shakeups aimed at turning things around – including giving Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa some extra responsibility.

Stellantis has announced that its current global Jeep head has now been given the title of North America Chief Operating Officer in addition to his role at Jeep. Filosa will succeed Carlos Zarlenga in that position, whose next role has yet to be revealed. Having successfully led the excellent performance of Stellantis’ South America Region, driving increased revenue, quality, and market share, Stellantis notes that Filosa is the right person for the position, given that he brings a wealth of business and leadership experience to this new role.

In addition to this move, Stellantis executed a number of other executive shakeups as well. Jean-Philippe Imparato will now serve as Chief Operating Officer Enlarged Europe in addition to his role as CEO of Pro One, succeeding Uwe Hochgeschurtz, who will leave the company. Doug Ostermann has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Natalie Knight, who will also depart the automaker.

Gregoire Olivier has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer China and remains the Liaison Officer to Leapmotor,  while Santo Ficili will serve as the CEO of Maserati and Alfa Romeo, plus as a member of the Top Executive Team, while his predecessor, Davide Grasso, will have his next position announced at a future date. Additionally, the Stellantis supply chain division will now transfer to manufacturing in a move designed to place a greater focus on making performance improvements with suppliers.

“During this Darwinian period for the automotive industry, our duty and ethical responsibility is to adapt and prepare ourselves for the future, better and faster than our competitors to deliver clean, safe and affordable mobility,” Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said of these moves. “The newly appointed leadership team members will make their valuable contributions to our overall team’s determination to tackle the challenges ahead, reinforcing and accelerating our transformation to become the preferred mobility tech company. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to lay the foundations for Stellantis’ future success.”
