Thousands of Jeep owners flocked to Daytona Beach, Florida for a massive charity fundraiser on April 24 to 29.
Each year, thousands of owners and enthusiasts head to Daytona Beach, Florida for Jeep Beach – a six-day, all-Jeep event that includes a long list of activities that are based around a huge car show. All the proceeds go to charities throughout Central Florida.
If you are a Jeep lover who has never attended the event, it should definitely be on your bucket list, but in the meantime, we have a great drone video from the YouTuberCopperhead_jk that offers a great look at the event. Capturing footage from the air and the ground, this shows detail and the broad scope of Jeep Beach 2018.
Activities
Jeep Beach is held on the last week of April each year in the Daytona Beach area, including a portion that is held at Daytona International Speedway. This event has a “show-n’-shine” portion, a scavenger hunt, live music, the largest all-Jeep vendor show in America, an obstacle course, off-roading, a silent auction, more than $150,000 in raffle prizes and a variety of “parties” – including the Tuesday Night Kickoff Party and the Beachside Main Street Party.
The video above begins with a few minutes of drone footage showing all of the Jeeps lined up along Main Street followed by some footage captured from the ground. This initial five-minute span offers a preview of the size and scope of the event before getting into the other details.
Heading to the Speedway
After Copperhead_jk and his crew hit up IHOP, they head to Daytona International Speedway for the big vendor show. As you can see in the image below, the infield is packed as far as the camera can see with Jeeps of all sizes, and later in the video, the host spends a few minutes walking around checking out individual vehicles.
He also spends a few minutes offering us a look at the vendor area with plenty of high performance products joined by heavily-modified vehicles that sport those products.
Off to the Beach
Finally, the video ends with more drone footage, this time showing us the hundreds of Jeeps lined up along the coastline of Daytona Beach before heading off to one of the many parties centered around Jeep Beach.
If live in the Daytona area, or are passing through at that time, you should definitely hit this event up. Good sun, good people, good food, good Jeeps. Can’t get any better than that.
"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.
"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.
"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.
"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.
"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.
