Our Favorite Jeep Fanatic Reviving 1985 Wagoneer Truck
David Tracy’s next task involves getting his ‘85 Wagoneer truck in better condition.
There seems to be no stopping Jalopnik’s David Tracy when it comes to conquering Jeep rebuilds.
Fresh from completing what seemed like an impossible task getting a ’48 Willys ready for Moab, the fellow Jeep lover is gearing up to tackle yet another monumental Jeep project. This one involves his 1985 J10 Wagoneer, a project that he abandoned nearly a year-and-a-half ago to focus on two Jeep Moab efforts.
Apparently, David also found himself putting the Wagoneer on the backburner to fix the engine in his red Jeep, which holds a deeper connection because it was his very first car. But with old man Winter now in the rearview, the Michigander has been inspired to jump back into the Wagoneer project, as detailed in a new Jalopnik report.
CHECK OUT: What Forum Members Are Saying About Tracy’s New Project
We probably would have picked this project back up a lot sooner, considering that we’ve always been huge fans of the Wagoneer. But then again, that means we might have missed out on his last Moab trek, which proved to be quite an entertaining journey for us to watch unfold here at JK Forum.
That said, it sounds like one of the first things David will look to tackle on his J10 project is the engine.
“The 258 cubic-inch inline-six turns over just fine, and actually runs. But it sounds like death, though not nearly as bad as the sound that comes from my trashed four-speed manual transmission,” said Tracy.
Needless, to say, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this rebuild, as well.
